Sasha Grey Entourage Interview Featurette:Last night on Twitter I saw that HBO tweeted this interview/feature on Sasha Grey, who as we told you last month took her girlfriend experience to season 7 of Entourage. Grey is playing herself and is Vincent Chase’s girlfriend this season for an arc and was also spotlighted in a previous featurette from HBO.

In other recent Sasha Grey news, we told you that Grey may be appearing with in another film, I Melt With You, with Thomas Jane, Rob Lowe, and Entourage’s Jeremy Piven where she is set to play “Raven”, the girlfriend of Zander Eckhouse (of ABC’s Huge).

When Entourage creator Doug Ellin was developing storylines for Season 7 of the comedy, he approached adult film star turned mainstream actress Sasha Grey about doing a storyline in the vein of the Charlie Sheen/Ginger Lynn relationship of the 1990s. Luckily, she was game to sign on for the successful HBO series because, if she hadn’t been interested, the storyline would have been cut, as she was Ellin’s first and only choice for the role.

Although she didn’t have any television acting experience, Sasha Grey jumped at the opportunity to work with such talented people, both in front of and behind the camera. In an exclusive phone interview with Collider, the cross-over star talked about playing a version of herself, showing sides of her personality that people may not have seen before, and the importance of being disciplined and dedicated, if you want to succeed. Sasha Grey, porn’s flavor of the month, was one of the keynote speakers during “Sex Week at Yale.” Grey’s star is currently in such ascendancy that her publicist rejected comparisons to the industry’s favorite daughter, Jenna Jameson, claiming that Sasha has already achieved more. Drugs, pressure to look or act a certain way, eating disorders and sexism, are all recurring issues.

With over 180 porn flicks to her credit, including Anal Acrobats 3 and The King Of Coochie 4, Sasha Grey is certainly no stranger to extreme close-ups. But when director Steven Soderbergh approached her to star in his experimental DV drama The Girlfriend Experience, the idea of being emotionally naked in front of the camera was a bit daunting. In it she plays a high-priced escort who gets lost in a fantasy of her own making. Grey talks to DS about the appeal of porn and why she's taking her career in a new direction.

There's an assumption that most porn actresses want to be mainstream stars, but you actively sought a career in porn. Is that right?
"Yes. I was in college and I was working when I decided to do this. I wanted to do it because I enjoyed watching adult films, but I also saw something that was lacking. I felt like I could get in there and be that type of performer that stands out and hopefully put a creative edge on what 'she' was doing. Not only that, but I wanted to encourage women not to be afraid of who they are, sexually, because I remember growing up, I felt incredibly guilty about sexual fantasies I had. I actually think it's a fallacy that most girls in the adult industry want to become mainstream stars. I think that's something that's been exaggerated heavily.

Sasha Grey is not your typical porn star. To start, she is 21. Her stage name is inspired by both Oscar Wilde’s most notable protagonist and the Kinsey “in-between” scale of sexuality. The self-proclaimed transgressive artist and experimental musician is also a fan of the French New Wave and considers porn a “performance art.”

Since Director Lee Demarbre’s H.G. Lewis love letter SMASH CUT recently splashed across screens at FANTASIA in Montreal, I figured I’d run a recent interview I did with porn legend Sasha Grey, who stars in the film.

Grey is gorgeous and – as evidenced in Steven Soderbergh’s recent drama THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE – ultra talented, gifted with acting chops as well as a dynamic physical presence. She’s well on her way to a career that doesn’t exclusively involve engaging in pummelling carnal knowledge….though anyone even casually aware of her trademark talents might mourn the loss of that.
