 little much" and that it ruins the fantasy. One of the key exhibits at the Adult Entertainment Expo was 3D porn technology. While not widely available or affordable yet, the technology exists for 3D porn and many think it is the next big thing in the porn industry.

Sasha Grey has quickly become the face of porn in many ways. Her arrival on the porn scene roughly coincided with the proliferation of Porn 2.0, which is the latest link in the chain for the porn business. Last year, Sasha Grey appeared in Playboy Magazine and also starred in a crossover movie, "The Girlfriend Experience".

Like it or not, and plenty of people do not, pornography in many ways has helped push the technology envelope and taken technology based business to higher levels faster. Porn, for example, was the first big business really to make money online. In the early days of the Internet, porn sites often had the best features and technology on the Internet. Even before the Internet, porn helped propel the demand, and therefore the financial viability of the VCR industry.

In the new decade, the next logical step in the process is virtual reality porn, and 3D would be the cornerstone of that. But, as Sasha Grey pointed out, there is a feeling that 3D porn might just be the point where the potential of technology is blunted by the limits of fantasy and human desire.

While Sasha Grey did not really elaborate on how she thought the fantasy of porn might be compromised by presenting porn movies in 3D, the most obvious issue are the very funky and awkward glasses that porn watchers would have to wear to watch it. It could be funny at best, awkward and mood killing at worst to watch porn with big glasses on.The other problematic aspect to 3D porn is the fact that the human brain (and other bodily parts) just might not really be wired to become more aroused watching porn in 3D than it would watching it on a flat screen. Unlikesports, for example, which are more watchable and enjoyable in hi-definition, and might be even more fun in 3D, the enjoyment of porn and sex itself is mostly between the ears. How would a 3D porn change that? This seems to be the point that Sasha Grey is making.

Regardless of what Sasha Grey thinks of 3D porn, the technology is coming and surely the industry will view it as something well worth promoting. What remains to be seen, however, is whether 3D will be the boon to the industry that the plain old VCR was many years ago.

One thing that seems certain is that Sasha Grey has a bright future in the porn business, and maybe even in mainstream entertainment (she has appeared in one crossover movie and is planning others). While technology is a difficult thing to forecast, the career and appeal of Sasha Grey is not.
